Photo Contest

We offer a photo contest to paid audience participants only. Presenters are not eligible. Each audience member will be invited to submit one framed photo, ready for hanging (frame width limited to 30”). Each major presenter will pick a “Speaker’s Choice” and defend their choices at the award ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

All winners will be displayed on our website and receive frameable award certificates signed by the presenter.

Outstanding photographs will also be considered for publication in The Cenizo.

Audience members will also vote on a People’s Choice Award.

Entries will be hung in the Sul Ross State University Center, on the second floor, surrounding the symposium for the duration of the activities. All entries must be picked up at the end of the award ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

Entry Details:

• One free entry per symposium ticket.
• Prints should be framed, wired, and ready to hang.
• Outside frame size is limited to 30” wide.
• Your name MUST NOT BE VISIBLE on the print.
• Magazine editors and photographers will be offering portfolio reviews during the symposium. NOTE: Please do not ask them to critique photos also entered in the photo contest to avoid disqualification of that photo.
• A small, numbered square of masking tape will be attached to the glass for judging purposes.
• If you have signed the print or mat, your name must cover your name so it is not visible to judges.
• Entries will be accepted upstairs in the SRSU UC at a designated table between 7:30 and 10:00am Friday.
• All entries will be hung by the SRSU art department.
• All entries must be picked up immediately following the awards on Saturday.
